I am so happy with my wonderful Pink Pedego Bike. You really went above and beyond my expecations. I will be happy to tell anyone that I believe your product and your servce is terrific. It is a pleasure to do business with you. I am so glad I took a test ride at the race in Cave Creek. Why take the car to go places?? With an electric bike you can go with a lot of help if you get tired. This brings exercise to a whole new level. Go to work....ride the bike, Go to the store...ride the bike, even go shopping take the bike. Go up a hill no problem. This bike is solid with a great smooth ride. I look forward to coming home and going for a ride. I have tried all the bikes and this is far the best. Go try it out. I can only say how I feel, you need to experience it for yourself. ENJOY THE RIDE!!! LIFE CAN BE GREAT....

The Pedego Comfort Cruiser is well named- this electric bike is one of the more comfortable bikes I've ridden and man, does it cruise.

I've had the chance to test drive the Comfort Cruiser for the past few months and have really put it through the paces here on the hilly streets of Portland, Maine. I made the choice to go car-less back in May and have, for the most part, relied on my feet to get me around since so I've been able to put a lot of hours of testing time down on the road.

The first thing I noticed about the Comfort Cruiser after I unpacked and assembled it (which consisted of screwing on the pedals and straightening and tightening the handlebars) was the size- it's a big bike with classy curved lines that sweep back rakishly. The bike Pedego sent me to test is all black with popping bright lime green rims, rims that have since generate scores of compliments from random strangers on the street. The handlebars are big and sweeping and it's not hard to feel like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider when the wind gets moving.

The Comfort Cruiser's motor is enclosed in the back wheel hub and is powered by a detachable battery that docks onto the back rack. I appreciate the ease of the detachable battery, at the end of a ride I just carry it inside and plug it in for a recharge. It's an especially good solution for someone who has to keep their bike apart from an available outlet and helps keep the battery warm in the winter.

One downside that I found to the position of the battery was that it makes the bike top heavy. It was never an issue while riding, but I had the bike take a few epic falls when I parked it on an imperfectly even sidewalk. The Comfort Cruiser comes with a nice two prong kickdown motorcycle like kickstand, but even that wasn't able to fight the gravitational pull of the heavy battery when things got less than even.

The motor is engaged with a twist throttle on the right handlebar that's familiar to anyone who's driven a motorcycle or ATV. On a flat road, the bike easily hits 20 MPH and pedaling can add another five or ten miles per hour. On any sort of downhill, the bike literally flies. When I'm riding around the streets of Portland on the Comfort Cruiser, more often than not I'm going fast enough to justifiably own the lane, I ride in the middle like a motorcycle. It's a good safe feeling.

The bike comes with a six speed transmission that's just enough, I spend most of my time on the lowest gear and only click to the easier ones on the steepest of hills or in the odd instance where I find myself out on the road with a dead battery.

The battery has a real world range of 15-20 miles, depending on a variety of conditions like hills, how much a rider contributes with pedals, headwind, and weather (I've found the range dips when it gets below freezing). The farthest I took it in one shot was 25 miles of mostly flat road riding.

Recharging the battery takes four to six hours of a trickle charge and literally adds just a couple of dimes to your energy bill to fill up.

The Comfort Cruiser could easily replace a lot of people's second cars. Since you don't have to pedal the Cruisier (twisting the throttle alone will move you down the road pretty well), it's a great option for sweaty commuters who lack showering opportunities at work. The Comfort Cruiser isn't cheap at $1,695, but when compared to the costs of owning a car it's a downright steal. I've probably saved that much already since going carless just from the gas, insurance, tax, and title, to say nothing of the surprise $1,000 car bills that always pop up when you can least afford them. Heck, getting a new set of tires for a car can almost set you back sixteen large.

I gave the pink bike as a birthday gift yesterday to a fellow baby boomer. WOW, what a hit! We went riding together for about an hour and neither one of us wanted to stop. My friend has arthritis and was thrilled to be able to bicycle again without pain. She said I'd given her a whole new life and opportunity for fitness. She was like a little kid with a first bicycle. Needless to say, I could not be more pleased.??

I had my bike on my car when I stopped at my Dr.'s office for an appt. and the appt. never actually happened because, in a flash, both doctors from the office were outside in the parking lot taking turns on my bike (one doc in a mini-skirt). I think there will be another order coming when I go back for the appt. that was postponed in favor of fun on the Pedego! My Dr. specializes in anti-aging and was very excited about the electric bike. Because men's hips are more narrow then women's, she explained, older men have more trouble with the model that requires one to swing a leg over the saddle. She wants one for her husband. Is it possible to do a step through model in black with red tires???

As for me, I'm very happy to be able to enjoy the outdoors and increase my fitness slowly. (I promise "before" and "after" pix.)??

Next weekend I think I'll head for the beach. Can't wait.?Our local bike shop is selling Townies like hot cakes but does not carry a single electric bike. Shame. I think you have the right bike at the right time.

You guys were right. This bike is great. It's amazing how many people give me compliments on its design. I've been riding it around SD for over a week now. From Downtown to Point Loma to Pacific Beach.

It also takes hills very well. There is a huge hill on Talbot street in Point Loma that I’ve been up several times.

The other day I was waiting at the light at the bottom of Talbot st. with 3 other cyclists they had all their gear on with some fancy looking bikes. When the light turned green I looked at them smiled then took off. When I turned to look I was half way up the hill they were still just beginning. I had the battery covered with my backpack so they didn’t know it was an electric bike.

As I passed some girls walking and pushing their beach cruisers up the hill the yelled out "Oh my god" I just kept pretending to peddle and laughed to myself. I'm sure they will be telling that story for awhile.

Hi Don -

Brian had a successful night-time break-in ride last night - he did about 14 miles in the dark and was stoked. The ol' man followed his lead. Left the truck in the driveway this morning and rode my Pedego to work. Awesome along the beach and Back Bay! Great bike!

Well I got to tell you. You ever get something and just can't wait to try it out? Well the box came today with my new black classic cruiser in perfect condition. The packaging was excellent! Put it together in about five minutes.

Just came back from my first small ride and it was wonderful. Just what the doctor ordered for these 55 year old knees. I am extremely pleased. The sun was shining roads were dry but my face nearly froze off you see it was 2:30 pm 19 degrees and the wind was blowing 30 mph. I had a ball. Just ordered a face mask!!!

Pedego is sort of the Apple computer of electric bicycles. Everything is designed to work together beautifully. The components are all top notch, but the emphasis is on the user's experience -- having relaxing fun and reasonable exercise while getting somewhere. 

I went shopping for an electric bike because I loved the freedom of bicycling but no longer had the strength or endurance to do the rides I wanted to do. A local bike shop salesperson told me they thought they would be selling Pedagos to retirees like me, but they are mostly selling to the commuters, especially the scientists who work at the lab up the hill and people who want to ride to work and not have to clean up. The second group is the spouses and friends of hard core bicyclists. With an electric bike they can go along for the adventure without being a dedicated athlete. 

The Pedego is a throttle type bike. That means I can peddle as much as I want and add in as much electric motor as I want. I have fun mixing it up. Sometimes I just fly, peddling with the motor up. Sometimes I turn off the motor and peddle. Sometimes I just sit back and let the bike do all the work. Most of the time I peddle with a little motor blended in. The only time I absolutely have to peddle is on a killer hill. It's easy to shift gears and use the throttle to get a good blend going, all using your right hand. The Pedego has one of the strongest motors on the market (500W) and a strong battery. A couple days ago I did a 15 mile ride and the battery never went below fully charged. 

The Pedego is a bike in the California Beach Cruiser style, which means it has wide high handlebars, a comfortable upright sitting position, and a heavier build for a smooth ride. It's for fun and transportation, from back before bicycling meant leaning forward over a minimal bike in bizarre racing clothes. The pedals are forward from the seat so you do not need to sit so high. You can easily put your feet on the ground. And you can lean back like an easy rider motorcyclist. The style says fun. I get lots of smiles, maybe because I am smiling, and a lot of questions and complements. 

I compared it to a lot of bikes and test rode what I could. The Pedego had more zip and glide and was light enough for me to put it on my car rack. The Pegego follows the rules so that it is classified as a bicycle instead of a motorized vehicle, which means you can use bike paths and not need insurance etc.
