Explore scenic coastal Groton on a beautiful PEDEGO electric bike. Step back in time and discover the rich history of this very unique Connecticut region. Indulge yourself with the vibrant culture of this diverse community of coastal cities and villages, townspeople and landmark sites.

PEDEGO GROTON is not just another shopping mall style bike store, it is a rewarding visitor experience in and of itself. PEDEGO GROTON is located on the historic Groton Family Farm Property, currently a 7 acre homestead in the heart of the Groton civic district on locally named Fort Hill Road ( Route 1 / Colonial Boston Post Road ) The property has been continuously owned by the Burrows family since the late 1700’s, with the ancestor grandfather, Robert Burrows, being the very first English settler in West Mystic in the mid 1600’s. He received original land grants from the Connecticut Colony and was awarded the first charter to operate the Mystic River ferry. Immediately to the East is Fort Hill, a prominent local hill top which was the pre colonial site of a native American Pequot village. This outpost village, along with the more fortified village on Pequot Hill in West Mystic was ultimately destroyed during the Pequot war of 1637. Within minutes to the South is the combined Bluff Point / Haley Farm State Park and Preserve, a 1,000 acre coastal treasure with unparalleled local natural wonders. To the West, PEDEGO GROTON conveniently connects with beautiful country and coastal roads that lead you to the Thames River with sweeping views of Long Island Sound and coastal New London City. With a range of 30-40 miles on a single e-bike battery charge, you will be within easy riding distance of no less than 4 historic districts, each unique in character, history and scenery. This area prominently displays numerous iconic landmarks, memorials, naval military / coast guard, corporate and industrial defense centers reflecting the rich history of the townspeople for nearly 4 centuries. Among the most commemorated is the Revolutionary War battlefield site at Fort Griswold, sitting atop Groton Heights with a commanding view of New London City. PEDEGO Groton is very pleased to enrich your experience by providing industry leading electric bikes, particularly well adapted to this expansive and diverse territory. We have a large fleet of touring bikes with many different models and colors and an ever growing inventory of e-bikes for your ownership.

I can't say enough about how my Pedego bike has changed my life. My knees are so sore, which doesn't allow me to do the exercise I want, but with my new bike I can go everywhere with no pain in my knees. It actually is life changing and I look forward to going on a new journey every day. It is so much fun and gives me an amazing amount of freedom.

I am truly amazed at how well my Boomerang Plus rides, handles, brakes and, of course, accelerates...a true revolution in cycling taken to a new level of enjoyment!

As a heart patient who once rode 15 to 20 miles per day, and because of my condition I have not been on a bike in over 5 years, I am pleased to say the Pedego has me back on the trail. The Pedego has given me back the freedom that bike riding provides.

Thames River Excursion

3.5 Hours Self-Guided $75

The historic and picturesque Thames River shoreline is just 4 short miles west of PEDEGO Groton, a short burst of power for a PEDEGO electric bike. Your party can start your trip by first visiting Bluff Point State Park to enjoy the serenity of this coastal preserve or travel directly to both Avery and Eastern Point. The views looking out into Long Island Sound and across the Thames River into coastal New London are stunning. The adjacent beach community has been designated as an historic district and contains many beautiful homes and cottages from the Victorian era. While long gone, the magnificent Griswold Hotel once stood on nearby shores as part of the larger Plant family estate (now a UCONN campus). Depending on your initial riding schedule there may be time to visit historic Fort Griswold, sitting atop Groton Heights, the site of the largest revolutionary war military action in Connecticut. The site proudly hosts the iconic monument, memorial gate, battlefield and museum. This area is quite hilly and spacious with commanding views across the Thames River into New London City proper. Electric power assist will give you unlimited access to explore all areas of this historic district. At the base of Groton Heights near the Gold Star Bridge is the United States Navy World War II submarine memorial. The site is dedicated to the 3,617 submariners who were lost at sea during this epic world struggle. On your return to PEDEGO Groton, consider stopping at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery and honor the legion of Fort Griswold defenders who willfully gave their lives that fateful day in September, 1781.
