Parade to kick off spectacular celebration

Pedego SacramentoSACRAMENTO, Calif., March 4, 2015 — When owner Tim Castleman opened the doors of Pedego Sacramento in Old Sacramento 5 years ago, the locals threw a parade. Well, actually, it was a parade for St. Patrick’s Day. Nonetheless, the celebration did herald in the start of a new era in Sacramento’s Old Town — a time to shout, “Hello, fun!” Also known as Practical Cycle, Castleman’s dream bike shop now stands out as a model for achievement.  “To celebrate our success, we’re riding in the St. Patrick’s Day parade and hosting a party afterward,” said Castleman.

Those who wish to participate in the parade are asked to email tim@practicalcycle.com in advance of the event as spaces are limited. Staging time is 11:00 a.m., and the parade starts at 1:00 p.m.  All who ride in the parade will be provided special green t-shirts celebrating the spirit of the event and the fun of Pedego bikes. “There will be plenty of cars and trucks in the parade,” said Castleman. “Let’s balance that by showing off the wonderful form of alternative transportation we know and love — Pedego electric bikes.” Riders who enjoyed cycling in the previous parade will be present to help newcomers join the fun.

When the parade ends, everyone will meet at Pedego Sacramento on J Street to enjoy live music and fresh, locally prepared refreshments.  Castleman promises a few surprises as well, ensuring that guests will have a great time.

“Pedego Sacramento has come a long way since that first day,” laughs Castleman as he recalls the struggles he overcame starting out. Despite the large crowd in attendance, no sales were made that day because he didn’t yet own a cash register. At that point, the store had only three electric bikes, a few helmets and some hastily made brochures.  But the business grew quickly as customers fell in love with his extraordinary bikes.

Pedego Sacramento now presents an amazing array of Pedego electric bike models. The Comfort Cruisers are known for their style, relaxing ride and colorful selection. City Commuters offer a sleek Dutch street-style bike that also benefits from Pedal Assist to accompany the throttle, a feature that is basic on all Pedego bikes. The Interceptor is a sporty cruiser boasting 48 powerful volts and Pedal Assist to help riders zip around Sacramento. The off-road, rugged Trail Tracker carries riders to new adventures, and the amazing Ford Super Cruiser offers power and rugged street-style combined. Pedego Sacramento also boasts the brand’s new Pedego Boomerang bike, an ultra-low step-thru cruiser with superior accessibility that invites even more people to the bike path.
